THE PARISH CHURCH SCHOOL COMMITTEE (PCSC)

The Constitution of the Church School Committee:

  1. It provides that the Church has a duty tor educate members concerning its Faith, Worship and Mission.
  2. It states that the Church School is the logical expression ofthe responsibility of the adult members of the Church to the children in accordance with the Holy Seriptures- Deut, 6:4-9 Proverbs 1:7, Eph .6: 14, Mark, 10:14 to mention but a few.
  3. It adds that the aims and objectives of Church School is to introduce the child to the truth of the Bible, to know Jesus Christ as Saviour. to be committed to Him, to serve in the fellowship and welfare of the Church and Nation as a responsible citizen.
  4. IT provides that the Church is School open to all children normally from four (4) to twelve (12) years old.
  5. The teacher is appointed and commissioned to teach, dedicated and registered as a member of the Church School Teachers’ Fellowship (CSTF) by the Kirk Sesion.
  6. The CSTF provides the teachers, parents and interested parties with a forum for sharing issues concerning the well- being of the children – growth and developmental needs.

  • The Honorary members- after attaining 65 years
  • Associate members- from other Churches
  • Friend; and
  • Co-opted members according to the need – up to 1/3 of the committee members

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PCSC

  1. Strengthening Church School work in the Parish through initiating, planning and coordinating activities and programmes
  2. Assisting the Congregational Committee with regard to
  3. Recruitment of adequate teachers
  4. Provision of necessary teaching materials
  5. Training of teachers
  6. Financial Management
  7. Registration with CSTF and maintenance of Parish Teachers Roll Call
  8. Arranging with the PM and Kirk Session for the dedication and commissioning of new Teachers
  9. Challenging and motivating the total Christian community in the Parish, to parish, to demonstrate and activate participation for pastoral concerns for children
  10. Ensuring the observance of the church School Sundays in the parish. collection of funds and banking for Church School Budgets
