The Women’s Guild at PCEA Murang’a is dedicated to empowering women through spiritual growth, service, and leadership in the church and community. Through fellowship and various activities, women are nurtured in their faith and encouraged to serve God and humanity.
In accordance with the Woman’s Guild Constitution revised and approved in the year 1985, the aim and objective of the fellowship is to unite the women and girls of the Church in the dedication of their lives to the to the Lord Jesus Christ, for Kingdom through worship, fellowship and service.
Composition
- The parish minster
- The chairperson
- The secretary
- The treasurer
- Up to two (2) representative from each congregational guild committee being the vice chairperson and the vice secretary.
- A youth representative
- A church school representative
- A girls’ and boys’ representative
- Up to three (3) other members with special talent shall be co-opted by the committee for the welfare of the guild.
The membership of the Guild is open to all committed Christian women and girls between 20-55 years old who are active communicant member of the church, are not of questionable character¸ and who accept to abide by the Women’s Guild Constitution. The duties and responsibilities of the Branch Woman’s Guild are as follows:-
- Formation of the congregational Guild Committees with consent of the Kirk Session and the Presbyterial Woman’s Guild Council
- To meet at least once in a month for the prayer and Bible Study.
- Branch council meeting take forms such as: bible study, sewing, cookery, child care, family life, care for church buildings, discussions relating to church, schools, hospitals, national projects, or any another important documents.
- To learn about other church Womans’ Guild organizations that guild can share issues on fellowship with.
- Finding out how members can engage in projects that can help the community and bring about the church.
- Discussions on how to bring up children in proper teaching any other area that relates to issues that affect the life of women and children in church community, socially and economically.
- To plan and prepare branch programme
- To carry through any business that will promote the work of the guild.
- To receive any complainants concerning the conduct or the discipline of the members and refer them to the Kirk Session, if necessary, which alone has the jurisdiction in the matters of discipline.
- To prepare the annual reports on the activities of the branch together with the annual audit statement of income and expenditure of the branch for submission to the Kirk Session in the Presbyterial council.
- To organize annual general meetings (AGM), TO PRESENT THE ANNUAL REPORTS or finances, developments, achievement, weaknesses and lay plans for the years ahead .
